The Pink Edit: Bringing colour to your Spring tablescapes
Spring is the perfect time to bring some extra colour into your home, and one of the most effective ways is to start with the dining table. For us, it’s the centre of the home where everyone gathers and spends time together, even when life feels a bit hectic!
Spring colour palettes instantly transform a table, with soft pastels, fresh greens and pops of floral colour. To celebrate this, we’ve put together our Pink Edit, themed around one of our best- selling Bread Dippers, Lemon and Juniper Berry. Combining a single hero colour with neutrals creates a bold yet cohesive palette, we hope it gives you some inspiration for your own spring table!
Creating a Strong Base
Colourful plates, napkins and tablecloths are really easy ways to brighten up the dinner table without breaking the bank. We often find lovely tableware in high street stores, and the pink and green plates we used are from Dunelm. Natural textures are the perfect base for any table, particularly in a neutral tone. A simple linen tablecloth is a true staple for us in the warmer months, and it goes with everything! Keep an eye out in vintage stores and charity shops where you can often find some real gems.
Bold and Bright
Candlelight is the perfect way to easily add a cosy vibe to an evening meal. Slim tapered candles are ideal for a dinner table, as they add a soft light without taking up much space on the table. We used some gorgeous dinner candles from Pygmalion London. These are hand-poured, using natural wax, natural dyes and pure cotton wicks. They come in a wide range of delightful colours and designs, so whatever your table colour scheme they’re sure to have something beautiful to match! We paired our candles with pastel pink candle holders from Superfluities. Handmade in London by Catherine Watson, these beautiful candlesticks add the perfect amount of whimsy to any tablescape. We used two of varying heights to add some dimension to the table.
Floral Features
Spring provides us with so many beautiful table decorations, all from our gardens! We love using tulips on the table, and just a few in a small jug or vase add an eye-catching pop of colour while still celebrating the season. We also used tulips in our napkin place settings, tucking them through a wicker napkin ring with a small sprig of rosemary. Sometimes the simplest decorations are the most effective.
Simple Starters
When entertaining, coming up with meal ideas can be a real chore, so we like to keep our starters simple. A bread dipper or two with some nice fresh bread, and some chips and dip. This time we used oven baked pitta chips from Soffles, an independent UK company. Their chips are delightfully crunchy and perfect to get a good scoop of dip. We paired them with a tasty plant-based dip from another indie UK brand, Do Goodly.
We served our starter snacks with a delicious raspberry margarita mocktail from Belvoir Farm, adding some pomegranate seeds and mint to serve. Alcohol free options don’t have to be boring! Don’t be afraid to use your colour palette to inspire your food choices, in addition to pomegranate we used radishes and beetroot in our salads to carry the theme through our dishes.
