Blackberry Days : The Autumn Edit

Simple rituals, cosy flavours and small pleasures for the season

Autumn arrives quietly at first: a cooler edge to the morning, a scatter of copper leaves on the ground and hedgerows jewelled with blackberries. These fruits feel like a final gift from late summer, one that invites us to slow down, step outside and enjoy the season with all our senses.

A Season for Slowing Down

There is something naturally calming about autumn. The days become gentler, home feels more inviting and familiar routines take on a comforting rhythm. A weekend walk can become a chance to notice the changing landscape, fill your pockets with conkers or gather a berry or two from the brambles.

Autumn is also a season of transition, when the food we choose to eat sees us from one season to another. While berries fill the hedgerows, apples fill our trees, and the flavours of the season shine through.

Blackberries at the Table

The perfect product to see you into the season is our Blackberry & Thyme Balsamic Bread Dipper. The fruity, sweet touches of the blackberry & balsamic pair deliciously with earthy tones of thyme. We love it both poured into a bowl and dipped with a warm, crusty loaf, and enjoyed drizzled over a fruity autumn salad.

Our favourite transitional dish is a quick salad of fresh leaves, topped with British blackberries, slithers of apple and salty goat’s cheese. All finished with a generous drizzle of this flavour filled dipper.

A Glass for Golden Hour

For an autumnal drink, we’re reaching for a bottle of Bude Gin Bramble Gin Liqueur. Nestled in the hills overlooking the sea, the Cornish Distilling Company create delicious rums and gins, every step of the process taking place in their Bude distillery.

This Bramble Gin is filled with sweet, tart notes reminiscent of the blackberries and damsons it is made with. Pair that with the warm earthy tones of the added cinnamon and cassia, it’s the perfect sipping liqueur over ice or enjoyed paired with your favourite mixer.

Crafted Colour

Autumn is a season abundant in colour. It’s the perfect opportunity to bring the outside in with seasonal colour, fruits and leaves. Mirroring these colours in your décor and tableware also builds the perfect cosy atmosphere.

Our table is dressed with fresh apples and leaves from the farm, alongside beautifully crafted Acorn Bowls from Glosters Pottery. Made from stoneware clay in their Porthmadog-based pottery workshop, they use a range of glazes inspired by their local surroundings and the changing seasons in North Wales. Each piece they make has its own story as to how it began and how the finished form came about. We chose Sage Green and Heather Purple to adorn our linen draped table.

As autumn settles in, it is these simple seasonal pleasures that make the everyday feel special. By bringing the colours, flavours and craftsmanship of the season into our homes, we can savour autumn at its most abundant, one delicious, comforting moment at a time.
